Boston Dynamics Launches Commercial Sales of Robot Dog Spot for $74,500

Yesterday Boston Dynamics, the global leader in developing and deploying highly mobile robots capable of tackling the toughest robotics challenges, issued a press release stating that now robot dog Spot has debuted for sales.

Boston Dynamics has repeatedly demonstrated the usefulness of its four-legged Spot robot. We saw how robot dogs were used to help maintain social distance, clean public places and hospitals, deliver vital medicines during the quarantine caused by COVID-19 disease, as well as for decommission of nuclear sites, factory floors, construction sites, and even for herding sheep and farming.

In all these cases, the robot was provided on a short-term rental basis as part of the Boston Dynamics Early Adopter Program. Under that program, over 150 Spot robots were successfully used by domestic and international businesses and research facilities. But now the situation is changing, and companies in the United States have the opportunity to acquire Spot in their possession. The robot dog is designed for commercial and industrial use, and orders are executed under the Boston Dynamics terms, which require the useful purpose of robots.

Robot dogs will be available via online sales, and interested parties can contact Boston Dynamics for pricing. Note that the Spot Explorer, designed for developers who want to work with Spot, is priced at $74,500. Additional batteries and modules, such as LIDAR, can cost from $4,620 to $18,450, respectively.
