Apple Will Take Part in the CES Trade Show for the First Time in 27 Years
Apple intends to participate in the CES technology conference in Las Vegas from January 7 to 10 in order to discuss its stance on consumer privacy.
It is the company's first participation in the CES electronics exhibition since 1992.
The company's senior director of privacy, Jane Horvath, will be speaking on a "Chief Privacy Officer Roundtable" on January 7.
Together with executives from Facebook Inc., Procter & Gamble Company, and a commissioner from the Federal Trade Commission, she will discuss how companies build privacy at scale, regulation, and consumer demands.
The discussion will be led by Rajeev Chand, a partner and Head of Research of Wing Venture Capital. People at the conference will also discuss a number of issues related to ensuring adequate privacy, government regulation, and the impact of privacy programs on users.
In the year of 1992, Apple took part in CES for the last time. At that time, Apple CEO John Sculley introduced the Apple Newton computer, which later turned out to be a failed product.
In 2019, Apple did not take part in the exhibition but placed an advertising billboard with a slogan saying, "What happens on your iPhone, stays on your iPhone" near the venue where it was held.
