Facebook Canceled Global Marketing Summit Due to Coronavirus
Yet another conference gets canceled over coronavirus concerns. This time, Facebook announced that the upcoming annual conference in San Francisco would be canceled because of the coronavirus outbreak and concerns related to the epidemic.
The company’s spokesperson said in a statement, “Our priority is the health and safety of our teams, so out of an abundance of caution, we cancelled our Global Marketing Summit due to evolving public health risks related to coronavirus.”
The conference was about to take place at the Moscone Center in San Francisco on March 9-12. This event is important for both the tech industry and the city itself as it usually hosts over 4,000 attendees who stay at dozens of hotels.
The cancellation of the Global Marketing Summit comes not long after another largest annual trade show – Mobile World Congress in Barcelona – was canceled as well due to the same reasons.
The coronavirus that originated in Wuhan, China, has already significantly affected the tech industry in general. Let us recall that earlier, the coronavirus outbreak forced Apple to close its stores and corporate offices in Mainland China. Google as well had to shut down its offices as the virus continued to spread.
