Google Unveils Gemini AI Model to Challenge OpenAI's GPT-4
Google has announced the launch of its revolutionary Gemini AI model, designed to compete with OpenAI's GPT-4. This new model, introduced by Google CEO Sundar Pichai, marks the beginning of the "Gemini era" for artificial intelligence at Google, promising integration across various Google products, from the Bard chatbot to the search engine and Chrome browser.
Gemini is the latest and most advanced natural language model from Google, first showcased by Pichai at the developer conference I/O and now made available to the broader public.
Gemini comes in three versions:
- Gemini Nano: Designed for autonomous operation on Android devices.
- Gemini Pro: Expected to serve as the foundation for many Google AI services, including the Bard chatbot.
- Gemini Ultra: The most powerful Google Large Language Model (LLM) mainly intended for data centers and corporate applications.
Google is launching Gemini in several ways, with Bard already operating on Gemini Pro, and Pixel 8 Pro users receiving new features through Gemini Nano. Gemini Ultra is expected to be available next year.
Developers and corporate clients can access Gemini Pro through Google Generative AI Studio or Vertex AI in Google Cloud starting December 13.
According to Pichai, Gemini will eventually be integrated into Google's search engine, advertising products, Chrome browser, and more. It represents the "future of Google," and that future is rapidly approaching.
