Sony’s Upcoming PS5 Event Is Rescheduled to June 11
Sony postponed its “The Future of Gaming” PS5 event to Thursday, June 11. Initially, it was scheduled to be held on June 4, but last week, the company postponed it out of respect for ongoing anti-racism protests in the USA.
“We needed to step aside so key voices could be heard during this historic and important time,” Sony representative Sid Shuman said in a recent blog post.
The PS5 event, which is planned to be held online as an hourlong stream, will start on June 11 at 1PM (PDT) / 9PM (BST). It will unveil some of the first games that will come with a next-generation PS5 console and will be broadcast on Twitch and YouTube.
The pre-taped presentation focused on games will be broadcast at 1080p and 30 fps. “This eased the show’s production process during a time when many of our team and developers are working from home. The games you’ll see on Thursday will look even better when you play them on PS5 with a 4K TV, as you’d expect,” stated Sony’s blog post. Users are also encouraged to watch the stream wearing headphones because “there’s some cool audio work in the show.”
So far, Sony has only revealed the name of the PS5 console, its logo, hardware specifications, and the new DualSense controller, without any mention of either the price of the console or its design. However, Epic Games unveiled a PS5 demo as part of the Unreal Engine 5 announcement in May.
