OpenAI Launches Advanced Voice Mode for ChatGPT Users
OpenAI has begun rolling out its highly anticipated Advanced Voice Mode to all paid ChatGPT users, starting with those subscribed to the Plus and Team tiers. This new feature enables the chatbot to respond with lifelike human voices, making interactions more conversational and natural. Initially announced in May 2024, the voice mode had faced delays due to safety concerns, but is now available, with Enterprise and Edu users gaining access next week.
In addition to the voice capabilities, OpenAI has introduced five new voices, increasing the total to nine. Users can also now customize ChatGPT’s responses through features like Custom Instructions and Memory, making interactions more personalized.
While Advanced Voice Mode is a major leap forward for ChatGPT, some features, like the ability to process visual prompts and offer real-time feedback using a smartphone camera, are still absent.
Currently, Advanced Voice Mode is available in the U.S., but is yet to be released in the EU and several other regions.
