Code Found in macOS Big Sur Beta 3 Suggests Face ID

A new extension with codes that support “PearlCamera” was discovered in the internal code of macOS Big Sur beta 3. “PearlCamera” is a codename that Apple uses for the TrueDepth camera and Face ID for facial recognition.

Apple showed macOS Big Sur at the end of June 2020. The system has been radically transformed and acquired the features of iOS. Improved Safari, iMessage, and widgets, and more privacy and customization are all a new macOS.

On June 22, the annual WWDC Developer Conference started in California. The company first held it online and showed a lot of interesting things, like the new macOS Big Sur with an updated design.

Among other things, FaceDetect and BioCapture methods were found, which are used in iOS. The found extension is made specifically for macOS, but no other Face ID features for MacBook and iMac are yet known.

None of the current Mac computers has a Neural Engine that analyzes the details of a user's face. However, it will be implemented in Apple's Silicon processors, which will hit the market this year. The face recognition system in Mac computers should probably appear soon because, with the help of Apple Silicon, it is compatible with mobile apps, many of which work with Face ID on iPhones.

However, the implementation of the new system for macOS is still in its early stages, so it may take some time before Apple announces a new Mac model with a TrueDepth camera that supports Face ID.

The first rumors about the upcoming Apple Special Events are already known.

A Twitter user posted information about what products the Cupertinians will present this fall, and when the Apple Special Events are planned for. The first presentation will feature the following products:

  • iPhone 12 smartphones
  • Apple Watch Series 6
  • AirPower wireless station
  • New generation of iPad
  • AirTag wireless tags

At another October event, Apple will show the following devices:

  • New MacBook and MacBook Pro 13 based on Apple Silicon processors
  • Updated iPad Pro
  • New Apple TV

However, the reliability of this information has not yet been confirmed.
