WhatsApp Is Now Rolling out Support for HD Videos
Following its recent update allowing higher-resolution photo sharing, WhatsApp has now extended the same option to video sharing. The app now supports HD video sharing, providing users with the ability to choose between Standard Quality and HD Quality before sending a video.
Previously, WhatsApp automatically compressed videos to 480p resolution, resulting in reduced quality. However, with the new update, users can opt for HD Quality, which sends videos in 720p resolution, providing a better visual experience. To ensure user flexibility, WhatsApp displays the file size associated with each option before sending the media.
This update aligns with Meta's efforts to enhance the visual quality of shared media on its platforms, and it's available for both iOS and Android users. While WhatsApp's approach to data compression for videos has aimed at conserving data and upload times, this new option allows users to prioritize higher resolution when sharing videos.
