Elon Musk Has Officially Become the Technoking of Tesla
Tesla founder and CEO Elon Musk added the title of Technoking of the company to his title of the head of the company. The electric car maker officially announced that Musk had been named Technoking of Tesla since March 15 in a notice sent to the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
At the same time, Tesla CFO Zach Kirkhorn is now officially the Master of Coin. It is important to note that Elon Musk retained the usual position of CEO of Tesla, and Zach Kirkhorn is still acting as the chief financial officer of the company. The retention of old positions by top managers suggests that Tesla will not become one of the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros.
In Game of Thrones, the title of Master of Coin was held by the treasurers of the Seven Kingdoms' rulers, including Lord Petyr Baelish, known as Littlefinger, and Tyrion Lannister.
Whether the choice of the name of Kirkhorn's new position is connected with the series is unknown. Musk has not yet explained his "coronation."
Even though the position of Master of Coin is an apparent reference to Game of Thrones, it also refers to the favorite topic of the entrepreneur – cryptocurrency. On February 8, it became known that Tesla has invested $1.5 billion in Bitcoin, planning to add it as a payment method for its electric cars in the future.
It is worth noting that the founder of Tesla has long had the image of a corporate prankster who does not accept the traditional image of a leader and often pushes the boundaries of propriety. Elon Musk is very fond of memes and jokes, and he also really loves to troll the SEC, so this prank is entirely in his style.
Some of Elon Musk's jokes even grew into separate business projects. For instance, in the summer of 2020, red shorts (Tesla short shorts) appeared on sale in the online store on the Tesla website. Their release was a mockery of stock speculators who open short positions (shorts) in anticipation of a fall in the value of Tesla shares.
In November 2020, Tesla began selling branded tequila on its website. The Tesla Tequila lightning-bolt bottle was offered for $250. Musk previously mentioned Teslaquilla in his April Fool's announcement about Tesla's bankruptcy.
Last week, Elon Musk's fortune increased by a record $25 billion amid a sharp rise in Tesla shares, which allowed him to close the gap with Jeff Bezos in the ranking of the richest people on the planet.
