Doom Eternal Runs on a Samsung Smart Refrigerator
The list of devices on which Doom was launched continues to grow. For instance, recently Doom has run on a TI-84 Plus calculator powered by potatoes. And now the latest shooter, Doom Eternal, has been launched on the screen of Samsung's smart fridge by the Instagram user Richard Mallard.
The user installed the Android version of the Xbox Game Pass app on a smart fridge and then launched Doom Eternal on its screen, using the xCloud streaming service's capabilities, which launched on September 15 in beta status.
As you can see, the application itself works in portrait mode. The game is displayed in the correct horizontal format.
xCloud came to Samsung's smart fridges earlier than to iPhones and iPads. Microsoft ended the beta test of xCloud on iOS in August, citing strict company policies, and Apple responded by stating that Stadia and xCloud were violating App Store rules. In September, Apple updated the App Store policy, formally allowing game streaming services like Stadia and xCloud to work. But in fact, the restrictions remained. Last week, there were reports that Microsoft is preparing an xCloud browser app for iOS to bypass App Store rules.
