MSCHF designers released their own model of Nike Air Max 97 sneakers under the name “Jesus Shoes”. The sneakers are literally screaming, “You can walk on water in us, dude!” The model is decorated with a steel crucifix, and the bubbled soles contain 50 grams of actual holy water from the Jordan River. Of course, the water is a bit colored because this way it’s catchier. The insole is red, à la Pope Style. On the side of the shoe, there’s a standing out inscription that is basically a fragment from the Matthew 14:25 Gospel about Jesus walking on water.

Wait, don’t get outraged! By creating these sneakers, the designers intended to show how ridiculous collaborations might be. The company reflected on the idea of what a collab with the most influential person of all time would be.

The MSCHF head of commerce Daniel Greenberg explains, “As a Jew myself, the only thing I knew was that he walked on water”.

Six pairs of sneakers were sent out to influencers, bloggers, and celebrities. For instance, A$AP Rocky is already strutting around wearing his new shoes.

Soon, the “Jesus Shoes” became available for sale on StockX for $3,000 for a pair. All 6 pairs of sneakers were sold out like hotcakes in an instant.
