In a critical move to prevent the spread of the new Covid-19 variant, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) of Bangladesh has prescribed a seven-point plan aimed at protecting its citizens. The country is bracing itself as cases surge worldwide, but as per the DGHS, we can curb the virus with these strategic actions.

Directives for the Common People

During a press conference, Prof. D. Mohammad Abu Jafor, Director General of DGHS, emphasized these preventive measures. The seven-point directive urges people to:

  1. Avoid Public Gatherings: Steering clear of crowded spaces is vital to minimize risk.
  2. Use Face Masks: Wearing masks can considerably reduce transmission rates.
  3. Cover Coughs: Use a limb or tissue to cover mouth and ensure tissues are disposed of immediately.
  4. Practice Hand Hygiene: Wash hands effectively with soap or use hand sanitizers.
  5. Maintain Social Distancing: Keep a safe distance from others to avoid infection.
  6. Avoid Touching Face: Refrain from touching your eyes and face to prevent viral entry.
  7. Stay Home if Symptomatic: If you have fever or cough, self-isolate and contact local health authorities or IEDCR for help.

Safety Assurances Amid Rising Concerns

Reassuringly, Prof. Jafor highlighted Bangladesh’s comparatively lower infection rates compared to neighboring countries. “We’re continuing the vaccination process and there’s nothing to panic about,” he communicated, offering reassurance to the public. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS), these steps are crucial to keeping the populace safe from the new Covid-19 variant.

As the community collectively battles the virus, adhering to these guidelines could be instrumental in preventing its spread. Stay informed, stay cautious, and together, we will overcome.

Let’s make our safety and health a nationwide priority!
