Xiaomi introduced the concept of a revolutionary smartphone with a non-standard quad-curved waterfall display that covers all four sides of the phone.
The unique device has no bezels or buttons, and the selfie camera is integrated under the screen. Another smartphone’s interesting feature is that it does not have a single port or connector, even the charging one. Therefore, the new device can be charged wirelessly. There is no speaker hole here either – the sound is transmitted by screen vibration.
In order to bend the screen edges in all directions by 88 degrees, Xiaomi used its own innovative technology for working with glass, including bending at high temperatures and several types of polishing.
“This revolutionary design ensures that almost all sides of the phone are covered by the display. Thanks to 46 self-developed patented technologies, physical ports and buttons can have their functions replicated by more elegant alternatives. Groundbreaking technologies and engineering solutions – including ultra-thin piezoelectric ceramics, an industry-first flexible film display acoustic technology, third-generation under-display cameras, wireless charging, eSIM chips, pressure-sensitive touch sensors, and more – are seamlessly integrated together, forming a visionary yet intuitive device,” read’s Xiaomi’s blog post.
The company called the new concept the “first quad-curved waterfall display.” The release date or the price of the novelty are currently unknown.
