Google has unveiled its latest smartwatch, the Pixel Watch 2, alongside the launch of the Pixel 8 smartphones. This second-generation watch comes with substantial upgrades compared to its predecessor, offering a holistic blend of advanced health features and cutting-edge technology.

The Pixel Watch 2 has undergone a noticeable transformation in terms of design and build. It now boasts an aluminum case, replacing the previous stainless steel one, enhancing its durability. The design has taken on a sportier look while retaining its signature 41-millimeter OLED display with a resolution of 384×384.

Under the hood, Google has made significant changes. Instead of the Exynos chip, the Pixel Watch 2 runs on the Snapdragon W5. The watch's RAM remains unchanged at 2 GB, ensuring smooth performance.

The Pixel Watch 2 is equipped with a 306mAh battery that provides a full day's use, even with the Always-on-Display mode activated. Charging is faster, with just 30 minutes needed to attain 12 hours of battery life. Additional features include new strap options, updated watch faces, and robust water and dust resistance, certified up to 50 meters.

Advanced Health Tracking

One of the standout features of the Pixel Watch 2 is its enhanced health tracking capabilities. The rear panel now houses three new sensors, which allows for more precise and reliable heart rate monitoring, even during rigorous physical activities.

When it comes to tracking workouts, the Pixel Watch 2 can automatically detect the start of a workout and pause it if the user decides to take a break. Additionally, a new feature called Pace Training enables users to monitor their exercise pace effectively.

Stress and Mood Monitoring

The Pixel Watch 2 can now monitor users' stress levels and bodily reactions. Users can even log their moods. If the device detects issues, it offers solutions like breathing exercises or a leisurely walk to help users manage stress effectively.

Temperature and Sleep Tracking

Another impressive addition is a sensor that enables the Pixel Watch 2 to measure skin temperature, track sleep patterns, and monitor overall well-being. All this data, along with comprehensive statistics and AI analytics, can be conveniently accessed through the updated Fitbit app.

Smartwatch enthusiasts in the United States can already pre-order the Pixel Watch 2. The Wi-Fi model is priced at $350, while the LTE version, offering added connectivity options, is available for $400.
