Game of Thrones: The Controversial Finale That Won’t Let You Sleep at Night to This Day
HBO has released an exclusive collection box set with some bonus content in which they revealed some mysteries and added scenes that were not included in the final version of the TV series, as well as added interviews with actors and the great George R. R. Martin.
The collection sheds some light on the events in the season finale that caused mixed reactions among huge fans of the series. In a making-of documentary called Duty is the Death of Love main characters comment on Daenerys’ fate.
According to another Internet source, here’s one of the new details revealed there:
Jon Snow did not go into the throne room intending to kill his lover, it’s only Dany’s final statements that condemn her. Kit Harington explains what was going through his character’s mind: “He doesn’t know he’s going to betray her until right at the end,” he says. “In Jon’s head, it’s a number of [reasons: Dany] doesn’t factor in anyone else’s decisions and it also means [Dany] is going to kill my sisters, so it becomes [my] family vs. her.”
The mini-film also explains Drogon’s track of thought: the dragon took Khaleesi’s body to Volantis and melted the Iron Throne because only his mistress and no one else could sit on it.
Now get your paper tissues to wipe your tears as the screenwriters revealed a heart-breaking detail about the relationship between Jaime Lannister and Brienne of Tarth. After the bloody Battle of Winterfell and after spending the night of love with Brienne, Jaime left her and returned to King’s Landing to die in the arms of his beloved Cersei. Brienne and Jaime’s parting was supposed to be even more sorrowful. The last words that Jaime would say to Brienne should have been, "I don’t love you. No one loves you." The fans’ hearts are broken just as the White Walkers.
Also, the creators commented on choosing Bran for the role of the King of Westeros:
“Bran is the only probably pure person in there,” Peter Dinklage (Tyrion) notes. “And the fact he cannot father children is key because they’ve repeated the cycle in this Westerosi history of heirs being really bad.”
And yet why didn’t the dragon burn Jon Snow to hell?
