Mike Morhaime, former CEO and co-founder of Blizzard Entertainment, left the company two years ago, but now he's back in the gaming industry.
Mike Morhaime has created a new game company called Dreamhaven. It is a combination of a publisher and developer, with "a common goal to empower creators, help bring their ideas to life, and create original gaming experiences that foster meaningful connections between players."
In the Dreamhaven announcement, Mike also introduced his first in-house studios: Moonshot Games and Secret Door. Moonshot Games is led by former Hearthstone lead Jason Chayes, StarCraft II director Dustin Browder, and Hearthstone creative director Ben Thompson.
"I'm excited to team up with such talented people who care deeply about games and their communities. I've always believed in the power of games to bring people together, regardless of backgrounds or boundaries. With Dreamhaven, we look forward to creating and sharing new experiences with players everywhere," said Dreamhaven CEO Mike Morhaime.
"We aspire to be bold in our approach, and we think the best way to do that is to create a culture centered around trust," former Hearthstone lead announced.
Likewise, Secret Door is led by a team of other former Blizzard developers, Chris Sigaty (executive producer on Hearthstone), Alan Dabiri (technical director on Warcraft III and StarCraft II), and Eric Dodds (designer on World of Warcraft and Starcraft).
Any projects of the studio were not announced.
