OnePlus proved itself as a strong player in the US smartphone market. In 2019, OnePlus 7 Pro and OnePlus 7T stood out as two of the USA’s favorite phones over the entire year. Now, OnePlus is ready to surprise its fans again.
OnePlus has confirmed that its next flagship will receive an OLED "Fluid Display" screen with 10-bit HDR and an integrated MEMC dynamic image quality compensation chip. The new OnePlus 8 Pro will be equipped with an incredibly bright screen similar to those in TVs, with the luminance of about 1,400 cd/m2. The model has an OLED display with a diagonal of 6.8 inches. The screen refresh rate is 120 Hz.
And more recently, the company has announced that 5G would appear in both OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro models, and both smartphones will receive the SoC Snapdragon 865 along with the X55 5G modem.
OnePlus 8 will have at least three color options. In addition to the classic black Onyx Black, there will be two more bright and completely new color options – gradient Interstellar Glow and emerald Glacial Green. The frame around the screen is traditionally black.
Judging by the previous renderings, the OnePlus 8 Pro will get the same design, except that the new model will get the fourth camera module next to the main block of the other three camera modules as well as a strip with additional sensors.
The announcement of OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro is expected on April 15. The lineup should also include the more affordable OnePlus 8 Lite (the ideological successor to the low-cost OnePlus X 2015), which may come out under the name OnePlus Z.
At the moment, prices and the exact release date remain unknown. OnePlus could likely postpone the release to a later date due to the coronavirus pandemic.
