Scientists discovered a two-gram dinosaur

Scientists in Myanmar have discovered an ancient amber with a skull of a tiny dinosaur inside. This is truly a miracle. The fossil remains of many representatives of the old small fauna simply have not survived to this day. The discovery belongs to the species the size of a hummingbird that is called Oculudentavis khaungraae (“Oculudentavis” can be translated as “a big-eyed and toothy bird”). It also could fly and looked like a small bird with miniature teeth in its beak. This dinosaur is 99 million years old. Having studied the skull in detail using tomography, scientists determined that the entire body of the dinosaur weighed about two grams. The animal’s skull is only 7.1 millimeters long. Tiny dinosaurs helped large dinosaurs navigate in the dense and gloomy forest in search of prey.
