This year, due to the coronavirus pandemic, many traditional industry events had to be canceled or were replaced by online press conferences. It happened to the annual gaming exhibition E3. So instead of the usual format for announcing new games, yesterday at 7 PM ET, Electronic Arts held an online conference called EA Play Live 2020.

This event included many significant announcements from various departments of the company and statements on the further promotion of games through Steam.

Steam

Following its desire to support as many platforms on the PC as possible, Electronic Arts announced that in addition to Apex Legends, it also intends to add A Way Out, Dead Space 3, The Sims 4, and Titanfall 2 games to Steam. And this is a significant change in the company's policy, which previously limited the distribution of games only to its own Origin platform.

Apex Legends

As part of EA Play Live 2020, Respawn studio has announced that Apex Legends will be available for both PCs on Valve Steam and Nintendo Switch. The studio also says it intends to support cross-platform gaming across all platforms. Thus, players running Apex Legends through EA Origin or Steam clients on a PC can play with users of the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Switch consoles.

Rocket Arena

The release of the new multiplayer Rocket Arena game is scheduled for July 14. It is a shooter in the style of Overwatch and a set of 10 characters, each of whom has their own skills. For each character, hundreds of development levels are provided.

The game is designed for a younger audience, so there will be no blood and murders in it. The game process consists of trying to push the opponent out of the arena. The Rocket Arena game will be distributed on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles and PCs through Origin and Steam distribution services.

Star Wars: Squadrons

After the recent announcement of Star Wars: Squadrons, Electronic Arts demonstrated a gameplay trailer for the game. This game is a first-person multiplayer action and space arcade. Players will be able to take part in space battles as pilots of the Empire or the New Republic. Spaceships known to the game's fans will be available, such as X-Wing, A-Wing, Y-Wing, U-Wing, TIE Fighter, TIE Interceptor, TIE Bomber, and TIE Reaper.

Star Wars: Squadrons will be released on October 2 for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC platforms. At the same time, users of the PlayStation 4 and PC will have access to the gameplay in virtual reality.

New Skate Game

At the end of the online press conference, Electronic Arts unexpectedly spoke about the revival of the Skate series. But still, nothing is known about the new release date, and it doesn’t even have a trailer. Game director Chris Perry only said: “This is the beginning. The evolution of Skate continues.” Fans of the series have been encouraging the company to release Skate 4 over the years, and now it will finally happen.
