February 4 is World Cancer Day. On this day every year, the World Health Organization (WHO) and the International Agency for Research on Cancer support the Union for International Cancer Control in spreading information on measures to reduce the burden of this disease.
Cancer is a generic term for over 100 diseases that can affect any part of the body. Up to 40% of cancer cases can be prevented by avoiding exposure to known carcinogens such as tobacco smoke. Many types of cancer have a high chance of being cured if detected early and treated appropriately. In 2019-2021, World Cancer Day is held with the campaign theme "I Am and I Will."
