Due to the server migration, a huge mass of downloaded photos, videos, and audio materials are no longer available, especially those that were added more than 3 years ago. This is what MySpace stated after the Facebook extruded them.

The MySpace social network lost its popularity and the audience as well under the pressure of mighty Facebook. Thus, MySpace declared the loss of all users’ data uploaded between 2003 and 2015, and the server shifting became the official reason. The MySpace team also apologized to their subscribers.

The first episodes of data disappearance were noticed a few months ago, but the company acknowledged the problem only recently, giving the exact reasons for that. “I’m deeply skeptical this was an accident”, - that’s what the former chief technical manager of crowd-funding platform Kickstarter, Andy Baio, supposed. The files could be missed or not replaced due to the resource saving tactics of the company.

Even though, the built-in feature of musical files downloading and sharing made MySpace the most popular and the most visited social network in 2006 in the USA, just three years after the Kickstart, in 2008, Facebook outcompeted the service and won the position of the leader. Nowadays, MySpace is included in the media holding along with People and Entertainment Weekly magazines, and on the main page of the social network, you can find publications of the news.
