Unexpectedly for everyone, and before the deadline, Google released the first build of Android 11 Developer Preview 1.

The debut version of Android 11 Developer Preview is targeted at developers. It will give its target audience an API for evaluating 5G bandwidth, tools for expanding Wi-Fi capabilities with 5G, including for streaming 4K video or online games. You can work with new types of screens, and apps can manage pinhole screens and waterfall screens using the existing display cutout APIs.

New features for quick answers will be introduced, and a place for the chats of selected applications will be added to the notification menu. You can keep conversations in view and accessible while multi-tasking on phones. Messaging and chat apps will use the Bubbles API in notifications.

Also, the function of inserting an image into a quick response will appear. All these innovations will be developed in Android 11 with the highest level of security and privacy.

The new version of the operating system also features improved work of data on external media, improved biometric protection methods. It also became possible to provide one-time permission for the application, and several new tools for working with the camera were added.

The first Android 11 beta is initially only available on Google smartphones, including Pixel 2, Pixel 3, 3a, and Pixel 4. Developers who do not own a Pixel smartphone can also work with an emulator.
