WhatsApp users can now enjoy an upgraded messaging experience with the introduction of new text formatting options, aimed at making communication more efficient and organized.

The latest update brings four new formatting features to WhatsApp, including:

  • Bulleted and Numbered Lists

Users can break down information into easy-to-read points, perfect for sharing shopping lists or step-by-step instructions. To create a bulleted list, start a new line with a "-" symbol followed by a space. For a numbered list, start with one or two digits, followed by a period and a space.

  • Block Quotes

This feature allows users to highlight important text within their messages. To insert a block quote, start a new line with the ">" symbol followed by a space.

  • Inline Code

Users can emphasize specific information or snippets of code within a message using inline code formatting. To highlight text as code, wrap it with the "`" (backtick) symbol.

WhatsApp Introduces Custom Sticker Maker for iOS Users
While this feature is exclusive to iOS 17 and newer, users with older iOS versions can still edit existing stickers. Unfortunately, for Android users, the capability to create custom stickers is not available yet.

These new formatting options complement the existing bold, italic, strikethrough, and monospaced formats already available on WhatsApp. They are accessible across all platforms, including Android, iOS, web, and Mac, ensuring a consistent experience for users across devices.

WhatsApp's commitment to enhancing communication extends beyond basic text formatting. The app has been steadily introducing new features to improve user experience, including support for Channels and expanded communities and business messaging options.
