At the time of death, Lil Bub was only eight years old. Bridavski said that the cat suffered from acute bone infection and died in her sleep unexpectedly for the whole family. “Even knowing this, we weren’t expecting her to pass so soon or so abruptly without warning,” he said.
Lil Bub was known for her unusual appearance. She had bulbous eyes and a protruding tongue. She was born with several disorders including dwarfism and was rescued as a feral kitten.
The owner said some heartwarming words in memory of the pet. Mike is greatly thankful to her.
"She taught me everything that I know about unconditional love, she brought my wife Stacy and I together, she's the reason we have our beautiful children Rosco and Lula, and she has been a constant source of warmth and love in our lives for the past 8 years," Bridavsky added, speaking of Lil Bub.
The cat became one of the first animal celebrities on the Internet. Her photos were first posted on Tumblr in November 2011 before being taken off after being featured on the social news website Reddit. The "Lil Bub" phrase has over three million likes on Facebook. A unique expression of her muzzle with the protruding tongue and short legs made her an Internet star along with Grumpy Cat, who also died earlier in 2019. Lil Bub currently has 2.4 million Instagram followers.
The cat appeared in several commercials and a documentary film called Lil Bub & Friendz that premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival on April 18, 2013, and won the Tribeca Online Festival Best Feature Film. Lil Bub’s family organized fundraising for charity. Thanks to Lil Bub, they raised more than 700 thousand dollars for several organizations helping animals.
