George W. Bush, the former US president, and Vladimir Putin, the president of Russia, felt like dancing to the Russian folk song called Sudarynya-Barynya. It’s not post-irony at all – it’s a video published by the Kremlin itself.
The Kremlin published archival footage that was shot in Sochi back in 2008. It was Bush and Putin’s so-called “farewell visit” as presidents. In the video, Bush Junior is cutting a rug with a member of a musical collective. At the same time, Putin is leading a round dance on stage. After this performance, the heads of the two states went on with their festive meal.
