At the Gamescom 2020 video game convention, it became known that Star Wars is coming to The Sims 4 universe in The Sims 4 Star Wars: Journey to Batuu DLC. It’s a new game pack that is scheduled to arrive on September 8, 2020, and that will cost $19.99.
Maxis, Electronic Arts, and Lucasfilm collaborated to create a new expansion pack for The Sims 4 universe, but it’s no surprise as Electronic Arts has held the rights to make Star Wars games since 2013. The new expansion pack was inspired by the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge area in Disney Land and Disney World.
Here’s the trailer of the DLC, which highlights some of the pack’s features:
The game pack will allow you to take your sims to the Black Spire Outpost on the remote planet of Batuu. It will feature familiar characters like Kylo Ren and Rey Skywalker. In Star Wars: Journey to Batuu, players will choose whom to support: Rey and Vi Moradi, the First Order under Kylo Ren, or Hondo Ohnaka. In this expansion pack, you can build lightsabers, engage in lightsaber duels, and even get your own droids.
It should be noted that Batuu is a destination world, meaning that sims cannot actually live there, they can only visit it. Players can find a certain home base for their sims there, though.
"In The Sims 4 Star Wars: Journey to Batuu, players will leave their homes to travel to the planet of Batuu where they’ll have to make a choice on which faction to work with, as the actions their Sims take will lead to control of the Black Spire Outpost. Sims can choose to support Rey and Vi Moradi as part of the Resistance, pledge loyalty to the First Order under Kylo Ren or shift their focus to gaining credits with Hondo Ohnaka and the scoundrels. As Sims embark on exciting missions, they’ll increase their reputation, unlock new artifacts and one-of-kind clothing, customize their own droids and create a coveted lightsaber. After players leave Batuu and return home, they can even bring back some of these items, like their lightsaber, to enjoy with other Sims they’ve already created," reads the press release of the new DLC.
The Sims 4 Star Wars: Journey to Batuu will be available for the PS4 and Xbox One as well as PC through Origin and Steam.
However, some of the Sims 4 gamers are quite annoyed about the new game pack, saying that the developers could improve the game itself instead of adding new expansion packs to it:
