A quirky new app called BananaBin is creating a buzz among macOS users. Developed by Leon Schrijvers and Rik Schennink, this app uses animated flies to remind users to empty their trash bins.

BananaBin is designed to alert users when their Trash folder reaches certain storage thresholds. You can set the app to notify you when your trash exceeds 10MB, 1GB, or 10GB. Once this limit is reached, a swarm of buzzing flies will appear around the Trash icon, which can be shooed away with the mouse or by simply emptying the trash.

Google Launches a New .meme Top-Level Domain for Memes
Whether you’re sharing relatable scenarios, expressing emotions, or simply embracing randomness, the .meme domain offers endless creative possibilities. Express yourself, make the internet laugh, and spread your ideas.

Currently in beta, BananaBin is available for free download from its official website. It supports macOS Sonoma, but the developers are working on adding compatibility for macOS Sequoia.

To use BananaBin, you'll need to grant it accessibility and full disk access permissions. This is necessary for the app to determine the location of the Trash icon in the dock and to calculate the amount of space the trash is occupying.
