EU Inspects Google’s Methods of Data Collection

EU antitrust agency started an investigation of Google's data collection practices and shared some details with Reuters.

The investigation is meant to examine methods of gathering data from the local search servers, targeted ads, web browsers, etc.

To achieve facts, the European regulator made up questionnaires and sent them to several companies asking them about their practice with Google's and data collection. Companies ought to respond within a month.

The competition authority of EU cares for the data that Google collects from users, and the way the company uses it and determines its value. Google stated that they use data to improve the quality of provided services, certifying that users dispose of data in their discretion, transmit or delete it at any time.

European Commission keeps an eye on Google's compliance with privacy standards. In March this year regulators fined Google for more than €8 billion for violation of antitrust laws. The company was accused of abusing its leading position in the online ads market. Also, regulators discovered that since 2006 Google confined other competitors reducing the promotion of their ads.
