The Official Durov’s Announcement That TON Is Over
Many investors did not believe that the TON project would start either this year or a year later, and they were right. Today, Pavel Durov officially announced that Telegram’s active involvement with TON is over.

Pavel Durov had to close TON after the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York forbade the distribution of Gram tokens. TON was supposed to launch in late April, but it didn't happen, and on April 30, Durov offered all investors a refund by selling Telegram's equity in a year.

Pavel Durov Refused to Give Investors the Gram in 2021
US investors received a new letter from the Telegram Open Network team, in which they are offered only one way out – to take back 72% of the investments.

Some of the almost finished components, including TON Storage, TON Payments, and CPS Fift, have been moved from the private development branch to the main public branch on GitHub. The efforts of Telegram employees who developed the TON blockchain platform will be redirected to other projects of the company.

Telegram Lawyers Withdrew an Appeal Over the Ban of Selling Gram Tokens
On May 12, Pavel Durov announced the closure of the Telegram Open Network (TON) project. That’s why the lawyers of Telegram Group Inc. decided to withdraw a March appeal against a court order banning the sale of Gram.

If members of the original development team have free time, they will be able to answer some community questions and make minor corrections. From now on, the TON code becomes freeware.
