Sony Corporation is focusing upon artificial intelligence researches and officially creates the Sony AI division. Offices will be located in Japan, Europe, and the United States.
The company is aimed to unite world-class fundamental studies with the unique technical assets of the Sony company. So far, the Imaging & Sensing Solutions, Robotics and Entertainment departments were responsible for the AI developments.
The AI specialized unit can help forward both the transformation of all existing areas of the company's activities and create the new ones. Plus, Sony has the long-term goals for AI, that is promoting solutions to the planetary challenges that go beyond the Sony business area.
But first, Sony AI is going to launch three projects related to gaming, visualization, sensors, and gastronomy.
Sony also expects that augmentation of AI technologies and AI-based projects will boost the value of the core competences of the Sony business in the nearest future.
