Apple has finally introduced its new 16-inch MacBook Pro. The Cupertino company calls it “The best for the brightest” as the new model is so powerful that it would be an ideal option for creators who deal with making music, compiling codes, filming movies or developing videogames. Featuring a better keyboard than its predecessor, a bigger display, up to 8GB of VRAM, and a high-end processor, the new MacBook Pro can truly be called the best one among the Pro line. What makes it so special? Let’s see.
The Retina Display
The new MacBook Pro features a 16-inch LED-backlit display with IPS technology which is by now the largest display in the Pro line. It also has the P3 wide color gamut and a resolution of 3072x1920. Support of Apple’s True Tone color shifting is also available and the brightness of the display can reach up to 500 nits.
The Magic Keyboard
Fortunately, the new MacBook got the Magic Keyboard with an updated “scissor” mechanism which seems to be more convenient than the Butterfly Keyboard that could be easily damaged by, for instance, dust. The new keyboard also includes the Escape key along with an inverted-T arrangement and a Touch Bar with Touch ID. The Force Touch trackpad enables Force clicks and other pressure-sensing capabilities. A nice bonus is also that you can now remove or replace the key caps.
The Powerful Processor and Storage
Having an advanced thermal design, the 16-inch MacBook Pro comes in two basic configurations. One of them has an Intel Core i7 processor whereas the second one has an Intel Core i9 processor. Those 6- and 8-core 9th generation processors provide higher performance and faster processing making the new notebook a perfect option for developers, musicians, scientists or filmmakers. However, what fascinates the most are storage and RAM characteristics. The basic set is quite usual: 16GB of RAM and 512GB or 1TB SSD. The maximum RAM you can get, though, is 64GB, and the maximum of SSD is 8TB, and it’s not a joke.
The Graphics
The 8GB of GDDR6 VRAM enables faster performance whereas the AMD Radeon Pro 5300M or 5500M chips make the whole graphics better in overall. It all makes tackling GPU-intensive tasks easier and faster than ever.
The Audio
The model has a 6-speaker sound system that allows you to enjoy the sound without any vibration or distortion and creates the best stereo sound ever produced by a notebook. Moreover, the studio-quality three-mic array can really compete with professional microphones.
