Apple is preparing to launch new models of fully wireless AirPods and AirPods Pro earbuds in early 2021.
AirPods 3 will replace the current second-generation AirPods model. The design of the AirPods 3 will be similar to the current AirPods Pro. The updated model will receive a shorter stem. Besides, the manufacturer will increase battery life. However, the AirPods 3 won't have the high-end AirPods Pro features like noise canceling.
As for the second-generation AirPods Pro, Apple aims to make the updated model more compact by removing the short stem that has been a hallmark of the AirPods' design since their introduction in 2016.
Thus, the new AirPods Pro will have a more rounded shape that will fill most of the user's ear, similar to the Samsung Galaxy Buds Plus or Google Pixel Buds.
The updated model will still feature noise cancellation. However, an Apple spokesperson said that integrating noise cancellation, wireless antennas, and microphones into the smaller AirPods Pro case proved a challenge for Apple, so the design may still change.
As for the AirPods Studio, which should have gone into production a few weeks ago but has been delayed due to headband issues, the Cupertino company is still planning to announce high-quality, noise-canceling on-ear headphones.
It is reported that the original design will be changed. There will be fewer external touchpads and fewer replaceable elements.
