Netflix Resumes 'The Witcher' Season 2 Shoot in August
Netflix renewed The Witcher series for a second season before the premiere of the first one, but the coronavirus pandemic made significant changes to the film industry's plans. Filming of the second season started in February 2020. However, after the actor Kristofer Hivju (Nivellen) was tested positive for COVID-19 in March, the studio interrupted the process and sent the entire crew to continuous quarantine.
The other day, Netflix representatives officially announced that the shooting would continue on August 17, 2020. The studio did not provide the exact release date for the second season, mentioning only 2021. A delay by five months is unlikely to lead to a significant shift in the schedule.

The Witcher series is an adaptation of the book cycle by Andrzej Sapkowski about the adventures of a wrestler from the evil spirits of the witcher Geralt. The charismatic Henry Cavill, known for his role as Superman in D.C. films, played a starring role in The Witcher. Among the main actors, there also were Joey Batey (Jaskier), Anya Chalotra (Yennefer), and Freya Allan (Ciri).
The first season of The Witcher was watched by 76 million Netflix subscribers, and it is a definite success. The second season will also consist of eight episodes, and each of them represents a separate story.
